ITEM # 2431 All-Star Squadron #1 – 67 + Annuals #1 – 3 (1981-1987)

Come with us now to Earth-Two, and the awesome origin of the All-Star Squadron!”
Roy Thomas, Rich Buckler, Jerry Ordway (credited here as Jeremiah Ordway!) along with editor Len Wein, letterer John Costanza and colorist Carl Gafford begin the wartime adventures of the Golden-Age heroes of the DC Universe. Writer Roy Thomas is no stranger to World War II, or wartime comic book super-heroes having come off Marvel’s WWII super-team, The Invaders.
The world of Earth -2 was at war. In a dimension not unlike that of the Justice League on Earth – 1, the greatest heroes of the 1940s had banded together to form the Justice Society of America, but even that wasn’t enough to battle the Axis powers plaguing their society. So, at the behest of President Franklin D. Roosevelt, a new, larger team was created to help unite the war torn country. The massive All-Star Squadron was formed, setting up their headquarters in the Perisphere at the heart of New York’s World’s Fair.
The creative team of writer Roy Thomas and artist Rich Buckler on “All-Star Squadron” offered readers a nostalgic glimpse back in time, albeit through the slightly distorted lens of Earth-2’s history. In this popular series that ran for 67 issues, readers were treated not only to the adventures of the more familiar Justice Society, but also to every other mystery man of the time and dozens of minor heroes from DC’s Golden Age, including the speedster Johnny Quick, the patriotic Liberty Belle, power houses Robotman and Commander Steel, and the 1940s versions of Batman and Robin.
With Thomas’comprehensive knowledge of the heroes and history of World War II era Americana, the All-Star Squadron was a certifiable hit, even if the Earth – 2 shattering events of DC’s tumultuous “Crisis on Infinite Earths” maxi series of the mid-1980s took a toll on the book’s continuity.

ITEM # 2952 NEXUS VOL. 1 # 1 - 3

Nexus is a significant character in the comic book universe, primarily known from the series created by writer Mike Baron and artist Steve Rude in 1981.

Character Overview
Nexus, also known asHoratio Hellpop, serves as a guardian appointed by an ancient alien race called the Merk. His role is to act as the conscience of humanity, tasked with hunting down the most egregious killers across the galaxy. This duty often comes with severe consequences; for instance, disobeying the Merk results in debilitating headaches that can lead to death. To manage this, Horatio uses a dreaming chamber known as "the tank" to envision his next target

 Publication History
The character first appeared in a three-issue black-and-white limited series published by Capital Comics. Following Capital's closure, First Comics took over and published an ongoing series that lasted 80 issues until the early 1990s. Afterward, Nexus was briefly published by Dark Horse Comics through several miniseries

Themes and Story Arcs
Nexus's narratives are rich with political and philosophical themes, often exploring the intersections of consumerism, religion, and politics. The stories delve into Horatio's internal struggles with his role as an executioner and his desire for a peaceful life. Over time, he seeks ways to relinquish his duties but finds himself drawn back into conflict due to external pressures and personal crises.

ITEM # 2736 Dazzler #1 – 42 (1981-1986)

Dazzler (Alison Blaire) is a fictional superheroine appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics, usually associated with the X-Men. She first appeared in Uncanny X-Men #130 (February 1980)

A mutant with the ability to convert sound vibrations into light and energy beams, Dazzler was developed as a cross-promotional, multi-media creation between Casablanca Records and Marvel Comics until the tie-ins were dropped in 1980. The character was created by a committee of Marvel staff, principally writer/editor Tom DeFalco and illustrator John Romita Jr.

Despite the fact that Dazzler was commissioned as a disco singer, the character shifted to other musical genres, including rock and adult contemporary. She starred in a self-titled series in the early 1980s which lasted forty-two issues, a Marvel Graphic Novel titled Dazzler: The Movie, a four-issue limited series co-starring The Beast titled Beauty and the Beast, and later joined the cast of the X-Men.
