ITEM # 0111A JOURNEY INTO MYSTERY VOL. 1 # 1 - 125 + 503 - 655

Grave Robbers Story

Several grave robbers steal bundles of pink flowers from fresh graves all over town. They meet up with their boss who is a florist. He pays them for the stolen flowers and restocks them into his shop.

Then, in the middle of the night, a customer comes in to buy some flowers. He asks to buy the very flowers that were just stolen. The florist escorts the man out with the flowers and then realizes he forgot to ask for payment. He runs outside to get the money and the man who bought the flowers is nowhere to be seen. He runs down the street and spots the man ducking into an alley. Turning the corner, he screams and falls down dead. In the alley, the man who "bought" the flowers is apparently one of the corpses whose grave was robbed and he is passing the flowers out to other corpses whose graves were robbed.

ITEM # 0069A The Spectacular Spider-Man Vol. 1 # 1 - 263

The Spectacular Spider-Man

The second monthly Spider-Man series became a cornerstone of Marvel Comics in the 1970s, second only in popularity to the legendary Amazing Spider-Man. Originally launched under the title Peter Parker: The Spectacular Spider-Man, it offered fans deeper insight into Peter Parker’s personal life while delivering thrilling superhero adventures.

With issue #134, the “Peter Parker” prefix was dropped, streamlining the title to simply The Spectacular Spider-Man. Over its run, the series became known for exploring supporting characters, street-level conflicts, and stories that sometimes diverged from the main Amazing Spider-Man continuity, providing a unique and complementary perspective on the wall-crawler’s world.

Lasting until 1998 and spanning a remarkable 263 issues, this series left an enduring legacy, introducing memorable villains, deepening existing relationships, and giving Peter Parker some of his most human and relatable moments. For decades, it stood as an essential companion to the main Spider-Man saga.

The “Double Digest” format collects a large number of stories—often over 150 pages—combining classic tales from past decades with newer adventures of Archie Andrews, Betty Cooper, Veronica Lodge, Jughead Jones, and the rest of the Riverdale gang.

The covers shown here are modern-era issues, likely from the 2010s, and each one presents a fun, lighthearted scenario:

  • Cooking Competition – Archie, in chef attire, tries his luck in the kitchen while surrounded by friends, suggesting a humorous culinary disaster in the making.
  • Romance in India – Betty appears to be enjoying the attention of another character in a market scene, while Archie looks on jealously, hinting at romantic tension in an exotic setting.
  • Betty’s New Hairstyle – Betty shows off a voluminous new hairdo while Archie admires from behind, playing into the light romantic comedy tone typical of these comics.

The World of Archie series focuses on teen humor, slice-of-life situations, and occasional travel or themed adventures, keeping the wholesome, timeless feel of Archie Comics while updating the artwork and scenarios for modern readers.

Under the artistry and co-plotting of George Pérez, the Amazon Princess was immersed deeper into the lore of Greek mythology than ever before.

The series introduced a richer portrayal of Paradise Island and the Amazons, weaving ancient legends with fresh storytelling. Ares, the fearsome god of war, emerged as her first major foe in this new era. By the close of the debut issue, Wonder Woman had been born anew from the clay of her island home, embarking on her mission into the heart of humanity’s violent and complex world.
