ITEM # Green Lantern Corps – Recharge #1 – 5

 When first confronted by the Oan power ring, Natu was in the midst of a brain surgery that was going badly. Her patient was crashing and was sure to die unless Natu did something no sane Korugarian would dare. She accepted the ring which had long been reviled as a symbol of the oppression of Sinestro, the homicidal former tyrant of Korugar. Natu quickly used the ring’s power to save her patient’s life. In doing so, one nurse remarked that she had saved her patient but had “damned herself”.

Natu was taken to Oa for training where she immediately made it clear toKilowog, Salakk, and the other senior Green Lanterns that she had no desire to join their ranks. Ordering the ring to take her home, Natu left Oa presumably never to return.

Before returning to Korugar, Natu felt compelled by her people’s reverence for the dead to visit the site where her ring’s former bearer, Tarkus Whin, had died. Like Whin before her, Natu was ensnared by an artificial black hole created by the Spider Guild. There, amongst the bones of many of the Guild’s victims, Natu found the remains of her predecessor.

Recognizing danger all around her, Natu quickly swallowed her ring while ordering it to decrease her vitals to the point where she appeared dead. She reasoned that whatever killed Whin would have no use for a lifeless Lantern. At the same time, she ordered the ring to send out a distress signal to any nearby Lanterns.

Her gamble paid off when her distress signal was picked up by Kyle Rayner,Green Man, Guy Gardner, and Stel. Ignoring the Guardians’ of the Universeedicts against traveling into the Vega system, Rayner and Gardner followed the distress call beyond it’s borders. There, they infiltrated the Guild and recovered the comatose Natu.

Still defiant, Natu briskly thanked her rescuers and reiterated her desire to rid herself of the Green Lantern Corps. Her principles were quickly challenged by Kyle Rayner who suggested that, if she truly wanted to honor her predecessor, she would take up his ring and fight as a member of the Corps.

Natu was swayed by Rayner’s passion, as well as by Gardner’s sarcastic challenge that she “didn’t have what it takes”. Using the ring she had once feared and despised, Natu created a funeral pyre for the fallen Lantern and then a Lantern’s uniform for herself. She would join the Corps.

 The fourth volume of Green Lantern began in 2005 in the aftermath of Green Lantern: Rebirth, which saw the return of fan favorite Hal Jordan. In the beginning of the series Hal tries to re-acclimate into society and life, both as Hal Jordan: Test Pilot and Hal Jordan: Green Lantern of Sector 2814. As critically acclaimed writer Geoff Johns reinvents Hal Jordan and reintroduces him into the DCU he comes across various problems and threats throughout the run. With Coast City being rebuilt Hal takes residence there, even if barely anyone else has. The Manhunter Androids, Cyborg-Superman, Shark, Hector Hammond and Black Hand cause serious problems for Hal. The Black Hand who becomes immensely important later on in the series.

ITEM # Blood of the Demon #1 – 17 (2005-2006)

All the rules have changed in this new series from writers John Bryne and Will Pfeifer with art by Bryne and Nekros! Expect pandemonium and mayhem as the Demon Etrigan takes on otherwordly foes in the first battle of an all out war.

Camelot: Near the End- Merlin summons Etrigan to Camelot and bonds him with a spell to do his bidding. Merlin puts the words “Yarva Etrigan Daemonicus” on Etrigan’s head and makes him attack Morgaine Le Fey’s army outside of Camelot. But it is too late and Camelot is still destroyed, but instead of just letting Etrigan go free he transforms the demon in a man.

Gotham City: Now- Jason Blood is being torqured by a group of demons. They are looking for Etrigan, and their search lead to Jason. They know that Jason has some sort of connection to Etrigan but they have no clue that the two are one, until it’s too late. The demonsare tricked into taking down the containment spell that is keeping Etrigan away and when Jason starts to speak the words that will summon Etrigan one of the lackey demons stabs him with a spear, killing him instancely. The head demon disposses of Jason’s lifeless body by throwing it from a high rise into a dumpster below.

G.C. Morgue: Later Sandra and another police officer are with the mortician examining Jason’s lifeless body. It does seem to have a mark on it and it was ruled a sucide. As the mortician is about to cut into the body it springs to life and attacks the police officer. Sandra puts several rounds into him but he shrugs them off and runs out ot the hospital and escapes across the roof tops. Not knowing where else to go and feeling strange Jason goes to see his old friend, Randu and his wife Anjeli. There it is revealed that Jason’s face has changed, it is now much more demonic. They concude that it is because Jason was killed changing into Etrigan but it does not explain why Jason came back from the dead. Suddenly for no apparent reson his face changes back to human and the three head to Jason’s old apartment for a book and weopons.
